Why InvoiceNow Matters and How the Singapore Government is Supporting Business

InvoiceNow is Singapore’s nationwide e-invoicing framework designed to digitalise and streamline how businesses send and revive invoices. Built on the international Peppol standard, it allows invoices to be transmitted directly from one finance system another in a structured digital format, eliminating the need for PDF’s, emails and manual data entry.

The key objective of InvoiceNow is to improve efficiency. By automating invoice processing, companies can reduce operational costs, minimise human errors, and significantly shorten payment cycles. This is particularly important for finance teams that currently spend considerable time on manual reconciliation, invoice tracking and compliance reporting.

GST InvoiceNow requirement, businesses will be required to onboard InvoiceNow and submit invoice data directly to IRAS via the InvoiceNow network. This will be mandated by phases.

To ensure a smooth transition, the Singapore government has introduced several initiatives and support schemes to lower the barrier to adoption.

SME onboarding grant up to $1,000 for SMEs to defray operational costs of adopting InvoiceNow, an additional Transaction Bonus of $200 after sending 10 more e-invoicing within 12 months.
